Manchester United has announced on its official website the extension of the second goalkeeper and Argentina’s first keeper, Sergio Romero, for 4 extra years until 2021.
Romero,30 years old, joined Man United under Van Gaal as a replacement for Victor Valdes in 2015 and played 28 matches since then and the last match was UEFA Europa League against Ajax which Manchester United won.
Romero said: “I am very happy to sign a new deal, who doesn’t want to be in the biggest club in the world? we have many goalkeepers and we all learn from each other… the win in the Europa League was a moment to be proud of for me and for my family”.
In addition, Mourinho said: “Sergio Romero is a big professional goalkeeper, he had a great season and performed so well, especially in the Europa League. He deserves this new contract and we are happy for him to be here.
Knowing that the contract extension was announced during the time Real Madrid is showing interest and keen to sign United’s first goalkeeper, David De Gea.
