The Portuguese manager, Jose Mourinho, Manchester United’s manager, has revealed the reason behind the Premier League teams not winning the Champions League and Manchester United’s chances of winning it this season.
Chelsea was the last Premier League side to win the Champions League in 2012 after winning against the German giant, Bayern Munich, by penalties.
According to the British outlet, Mirror, Jose Mourinho said:” I don’t think the English clubs have the ability to win the Champions League this season.”
Jose Mourinho continued:” The reason behind that is the knock out stages in the Champions League that begins in February, then the English clubs in the Premier League would have played around 20 matches in January and February without any break. This doesn’t happen in Spain, Italy, Germany, or France.”
Jose Mourinho continued:” We don’t get any break as the other European leagues, and the competition in England is very strong, every team wants to win every match. For example, we have a match in the EFL Cup against Bristol City and it will be a hard match. In England, all the teams have the winning mentality and have high-quality players, that’s why we can’t always rotate players.”
