Manchester United had a great 4-1 win against Newcastle United yesterday, Saturday, where two main players, Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, were missing.
Jose Mourinho, Manchester United’s manager, has explained the reason behind their absence and handed Manchester United fans a bad news due to a new injury.
In a pre-match interview with BT Sport, Jose Mourinho confirmed the Henrikh Mkhitaryan absence was due to a tactical reason and a decision he took for this match, which is expected and understood by Manchester United fans and football experts due to the dramatic decline in Mkhitaryan’s form since last month, after being one of Manchester United’s best players in the beginning of the season.
On the other hand, Jose Mourinho confirmed that Eric Bailly’s absence was unfortunately due to an injury. Knowing that Eric Bailly didn’t play in the qualification match with Corte d’Ivoire against Morocco last Saturday due to a suspension, where his country’s team failed to qualify for the world cup.
Eric Bailly suffered a groin strain with Cote d’Ivoire last month and came back from injury recently, and now it seems he is suffering from another injury and the nature of his injury, or his absence duration isn’t confirmed.
Knowing that Victor Lindelof and Chris Smalling played in Manchester United’s match against Newcastle United, and may play again in the Champions League on Wednesday against FC Basel due to Eric Bailly and Phil Jone’s injuries.
