Manchester United have won over Stoke City today in the Premier League Matchday 23, and the Red Devils scored three goals by three different players.
Manchester United’s squad today didn’t include the Armenian player, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, at all not in the starting Xl, neither on the bench.
Jose Mourinho, Manchester United’s manager, has explained the reason behind dropping Henrikh Mkhitaryan from today’s match and it seemed like hinting that the player’s future is in doubt.
Jose Mourinho was asked about the reason he dropped Henrikh Mkhitaryan in a pre-match interview, and Jose Mourinho said:” I will be lying if I tell you it was a pure tactical decision. It was just a choice of the players that we know they have their mind with Manchester United 100%.”
Mourinho continued:” No doubts about the future. I don’t think it’s easy for any player to play in a match when there are doubts about their future. It’s an extra pressure that players don’t need. I think this is the best thing for the players and for us while there are doubts in the air to protect them.”
This could mean that Henrikh Mkhitaryan was dropped for almost the same reason as Alexis Sanchez was dropped against Bournemouth FC yesterday due to the same reason and it’s expected that Arsenal and Manchester United will be doing a swap deal for in Alexis Sanchez’s deal where Arsenal will get the Armenian player, Henrikh Mkhitaryan. However, official confirmations are required from their clubs.
