We didn’t expect the match like that, almost everyone expected a harder match. Manchester United’s first half was one of their best performances this season, if not the best. However, the second half Watford was a different team and Manchester United didn’t perform as good as the first half, but the three points are the most important thing.
Our players’ ratings are as the following:
De Gea: Nothing much to do, can’t be really blamed for the goals. 6/10
Smalling: Was at least able to try to block the second goal. Not the ideal defender for Manchester United. 5/10
Lindelof: Showed a better performance with three in the back. 6/10
Marcos Rojo: A good match after not playing for months except once, but booked and gave a penalty to Watford 5/10
Young: He wanted to score a real goal today after the own goal last match, he scored twice. Defended well as well. 9/10
Valencia: Average match. We didn’t see him a lot. 6/10
Matic: Played well before he gets subbed off minutes after the beginning of the second half due to an injury. 6/10
Pogba: One of the best players like usual. Tried his best and was dangerous. 7/10
Lingard: Was dropping down to the midfield to help Pogba and Matic. Was the first goal by an assist. Had a dangerous shot as well on the 45th minute that Gomez blocked. At the end scored the winning goal for Manchester United 7/10
Martial: 6 Premier League goals and didn’t start all the matches. Won several free kicks where one of them led to the second goal by Young. 8/10
Lukaku: On the 53rd minute missed a pass to Martia, and on the 75th minute he missed a one on one chance with an empty net and no goalkeeper. He will find himself on the bench as soon as Zlatan is fully fit.
Herrera: replaced Matic and made stability in the midfield. 6/10
Zlatan: No time to impress. N/A
Rashford: Tried to help in the offense, we didn’t see him a lot though. 5/10
Man of the match: Ashley Young deserves to win the man of the match after helping his team, Manchester United, to win with his two early goals.
Jose Mourinho (Manager): It was clear he told his players to shot from outside the area to avoid Watford’s defense where all the four goals came from outside the 18 yards area. Good match after the bad performances recently.
