A great win and a very disappointing performance. Bournemouth had most shots on target than Manchester United where the Red Devils had 2 attempts, and Bournemouth had 5 attempts in the Old Trafford. Not sure what was the plan, parking the bus or attack? it doesn’t seem any of them…
A lot of tactical question marks in this match, regardless of the win. Jose Mourinho has to improve the performance ASAP or change the goal to be qualifying to the Champions League only for next season.
Man United seemed nervous as well, where the players committed 10 fouls in less than an hour, and 14 fouls in the match, more than Bournemouth.
Our players’ ratings are as the following:
De Gea: World class save on the 23rd minute, as usual, and other good saves. 7/10
Smalling: Nothing much to do. 6/10
Jones: Calm match as well, nothing much to do. 6/10
Shaw: Was always trying and sprayed some long balls. 6/10
Valencia: Was defending and going forward in the attacks. Average. 6/10
McTominay: Average match. 5/10
Matic: Not in his top form today. 6/10
Lingard: Used his speed to crack into Bournemouth’s defense, was a bit reckless in some moments and slipped on the 68th minute in one on one chance. Not sure why he started today instead of Rashford. 4/10
Martial: Was trying and had some good dangerous attempts, especially on the 42nd minute before he slips to the ground and misses an empty net on the 60th minute. Missed the sharpness and critical finish. 5/10
Mata: Always in the 18 yards area and trying to create and score and made an assist. 7/10
Lukaku: Finally scored again, but still not so dangerous or convincing. Seemed so nervous and was close on getting a red card. Booked. 5/10
Rashford: It hurts to see he was on the bench for Lingard. Was going to score in the 72nd minute by a rocket. 6/10
Herrera: Came to stabilize the midfield and secure the three points. 5/10
Young: Came to defend and secure the result. N/A
Man of the match: None of the players really impressed. Lukaku gave the three points for Man United, but the goal was almost his only good moment in the match. I think Juan Mata deserves to be the best player, he was always trying and made an assist.
Jose Mourinho (Manager): A good win, but there are some question marks on Lingard, why not Rashford? is it resting or what is the plan for the continues starting of Lingard? Why subbing Martial instead of Lingard who was only running today? three important points but Mourinho has a lot of work to do if he still wants to compete for the title, if it’s not to late already… 5/10
