Phil Jones and Eric Bailly, Manchester United’s defenders, were suffering from injuries since the international break which prevented them from playing in Manchester United’s 4-1 against Newcastle United.
Eric Bailly and Phil Jones missed Manchester United’s training today ahead of the Champions League match against FC Basel tomorrow, Wednesday.
Even though an official confirmation by Jose Mourinho, Manchester United’s manager, isn’t released yet, but their absence from the training means that they aren’t fit yet to return to training, or being included in the traveling squad to Switzerland.
Eric Bailly picked up an injury during the international break, according to Jose Mourinho, and Phil Jones picked up an injury with his national team England, after just 10 minutes in the clash against Germany.
Jose Mourinho confirmed that Phil Jones had an ongoing injury, and heavily criticized England’s manager, Gareth Southgate, for playing Phil Jones in a friendly match regardless of his injury.
Jose Mourinho played the central backs Victor Lindelof and Chris Smalling last Saturday in the Premier League and may be forced to play the same pair due to injuries.
Knowing that Victor Lindelof was one of Manchester United’s worst defenders in the match against Newcastle United, where he was blamed for Newcastle United’s only goal.
